RESPONSIVE LENS
Last updated 21 October 2026. This policy covers the Responsive Lens extension for Google Chrome, made by Farrukh Shahzad. Responsive Lens shows websites at the screen sizes of phones, tablets and computers so you can test their layouts. In short: it collects nothing, and nothing about the sites you test leaves your computer.
What the extension collects
Nothing. Responsive Lens has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no servers. It does not send any information to the developer or to any third party.
Cost
Responsive Lens is free. There is nothing to buy, and no payment details are ever asked for.
What is stored in your browser
The extension saves these items with Chrome's extension storage:
- your settings: chosen devices, theme, zoom, sync and tool options;
- custom devices you create;
- the last eight addresses you opened in the workspace, for quick access.
The simulator's settings and your custom devices use Chrome sync storage, so if you are signed in to Chrome with sync on, Google keeps a copy in your Google account and they appear on your other computers. Everything else stays on this computer. The extension itself never reads or sends this data anywhere.
You can clear all of it by removing the extension.
Network activity
The extension only loads the pages you ask it to test, directly from those websites, as a normal browser tab would. To find a page's breakpoints, it may also download that same page's stylesheets.
To show a page inside a device frame, the extension removes the X-Frame-Options and Content-Security-Policy response headers for that page. This applies only:
- to frames inside the Responsive Lens workspace tab, until that tab is closed;
- or, in the simulator shown over a page, to frames the simulator loaded itself in that tab, until the simulator is closed.
Screenshots and recordings
Screenshots and video recordings are made in your browser and saved straight to your downloads folder. They are never uploaded. Chrome asks your permission each time before a recording starts.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
